ISO 42001 Lead Auditor
Training in the UAE.
PECB-accredited, face-to-face training for the team that will audit your AI Management System. Taught by a practitioner-led team with hardcore cybersecurity backgrounds, not a slide-reading trainer. Delivered in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the UAE.
ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor training teaches your team to plan, conduct and lead audits of an AI Management System (AIMS), applying ISO 19011 methodology to an AI-specific context. It's a PECB-accredited, five-day course: four days of training plus the official certification exam, ending in the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor credential.
We deliver it face-to-face, as a private corporate cohort for your own team, taught by practitioners who audit and implement ISO/IEC 42001 for clients, not trainers who only teach it.
What's Covered
Five Days,
One Standard.
PECB's standard five-day structure for Lead Auditor courses: four days of instruction building toward the exam on day five.
- Day 1: Foundations and audit fundamentals. Training scope, standards and regulatory frameworks, fundamental AI concepts, audit principles, procedures and methods based on ISO 19011, and the roles and responsibilities of an auditor.
- Day 2: Planning and initiating an audit. Audit program management, the Stage 1 documentation review, a risk-based audit approach, preparing the audit plan and checklist, and communicating during an audit.
- Day 3: Conducting the AIMS audit. Stage 2 on-site or remote audit activities, collecting and verifying audit evidence, drafting findings and nonconformities, audit team management, and the closing meeting.
- Day 4: Closing the audit and certification process. Audit report writing, the audit conclusion and certification decision, managing an internal audit program, evaluating action plans and follow-up audits, and PECB's certification process for auditors.
- Day 5: Certification exam. PECB's official Lead Auditor exam: open-book, multiple-choice, and scenario-based.
The PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor credential is awarded after passing the exam and submitting proof of relevant experience per PECB's certification policies.
Certification Path
From Provisional
to Senior Lead.
PECB grades the Lead Auditor credential by experience, not just by passing the exam. Everyone sits the same exam; which title you're awarded depends on what you bring to it.
| Credential | Professional experience | Audit experience |
|---|---|---|
| Provisional Auditor | None | None |
| Auditor | 2 years (1 in AI) | 200 hours of AIMS audit activities |
| Lead Auditor | 5 years (2 in AI) | 300 hours, leading audit teams |
| Senior Lead Auditor | 10 years (7 in AI) | 1,000 hours, leading audit teams |
All tiers require signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
Who Should Attend
Built for the People
Who'll Audit the AIMS.
Auditors and GRC consultants
Expanding an existing audit practice to cover AI management system audits for the first time.
ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 auditors
Adding AI governance to an existing audit scope, rather than building a separate audit practice from scratch.
Certification body professionals
Conducting AIMS certification audits on behalf of an accredited certification body.
Internal audit teams
Responsible for AIMS conformance inside their own organization, ahead of an external certification audit.
Beyond the Curriculum
What the Team Adds
on Top.
Every cohort gets the official PECB curriculum plus modules built from the team's own offensive and defensive security work, not generic filler.
| Add-on | What it covers |
|---|---|
| AI policy mapping | The UAE's own AI policy landscape, covered in depth, alongside the EU AI Act, US regulatory approaches and the NIST AI RMF, each mapped directly to ISO/IEC 42001 clauses, so your audits account for every jurisdiction your auditees operate in. |
| AI security in practice | Model Context Protocol (MCP), large language model (LLM) risk, and agentic AI, taught from hands-on offensive and defensive security work, so you know what to probe for in an audit, not just what the checklist says. |
| ISO 27001 & ISO 22301 audit integration | How an AIMS audit shares evidence, risk registers and audit cycles with an existing ISMS or BCMS audit, so auditors already certified in either standard extend into ISO 42001 without duplicating work. |
| Exam-prep sessions | Live sessions before you sit the exam: clause review, scenario walkthroughs, and any last questions answered. |
| Direct trainer access | Email and WhatsApp access to the team for the duration of your certification journey. No coordinators, no support queue. |
Format & Logistics
What to Expect.
| Detail | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Delivery | Face-to-face, on-site in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or elsewhere in the UAE. A private corporate cohort, not an open-enrollment public class. |
| Duration | Five days: four days of training plus one exam day, PECB's standard format. |
| Group size | Sized to your team. Most effective as a focused group made up of your own people, rather than a large open class. |

| Credential | PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor, 31 CPD credits, valid for three years. |
| Prerequisite | None formally required. Familiarity with audit methodology such as ISO 19011, or with management systems generally, helps the group move faster. |
Lead Auditor vs. Lead Implementer
Auditing It,
or Building It.
Lead Auditor training teaches your team to plan, conduct and lead audits of an AIMS using ISO 19011 methodology. Lead Implementer training teaches the separate skill of building and running one from the inside. Many governance professionals eventually hold both, but they answer different questions: auditor training is "how do we check that it's working," implementer training is "how do we build this."
If your team's job is to independently assess an AIMS, whether internally or as part of a certification body, start with Lead Auditor. If your team is building or running the AIMS itself, Lead Implementer training is the better starting point. Need both? The bundle further down this page covers Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer together at a lower combined price.

Shenoy Sandeep.

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions,
Answered.
Is this the same as self-paced online ISO 42001 auditor training?
No. This is face-to-face, on-site corporate training delivered for teams in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and across the UAE. If you're looking for individual, self-paced preparation instead, Self-Study (AED 2,950) and eLearning (AED 3,330) formats are available separately at reconn.io, each with installment options via Tabby or Tamara.
Can we pay in installments via Tabby or Tamara?
Yes. reconn is a partner merchant with both Tabby and Tamara. Contact us directly and we'll help set up a payment plan through either platform for your Self-Study or eLearning order — for example, from around AED 737.5 per payment if split into 4. Payment schedules, eligibility and any fees are set by Tabby or Tamara, not reconn. See full pricing & payment plans.
Is there a bundle for both Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer?
Yes. Self-Study for both courses together is AED 5,599, and eLearning for both is AED 5,999, cheaper than buying each course separately. The bundle is also available via Tabby or Tamara installments.
Is the PECB exam included?
Yes. The course runs four training days followed by the official PECB Lead Auditor exam on day five: open-book, multiple-choice and scenario-based.
What credential do we earn?
PECB Certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor, worth 31 CPD credits, valid for three years from the date of certification.
What's the difference between Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer training?
Lead Auditor training covers planning, conducting and leading audits of an AIMS using ISO 19011 methodology. Lead Implementer training covers building, implementing and running an AIMS inside an organization. Many governance professionals eventually hold both.
Do you train in groups, or is it one-on-one?
Corporate cohorts, sized to your team. It isn't an open-enrollment public class, so the room is made up of your own people, not a mix of unrelated attendees.
What should our team prepare beforehand?
No formal prerequisite. Familiarity with audit methodology such as ISO 19011, or with your organization's existing management systems, especially ISO 27001 if you hold it, helps the group move faster, but isn't required.
Is this delivered only in Dubai, or across the UAE?
We deliver on-site in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and elsewhere in the Emirates, wherever your team is based.
How much does the training cost?
Corporate training is quoted per cohort based on group size and location, so we don't publish a fixed price. Book a consultation and we'll quote you directly.
